ABOUT LAUREN LINAKIS

Lauren joined the Farmingdale SBDC in 2019. Prior to her arrival at the SBDC, she held the position of the Associate Director of the LaGuardia Community College Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), where she helped small businesses understand governmental contracting. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Barnard College and a Master’s degree in economic development from Columbia University, Lauren demonstrates achievement and success in the world of business. Through her marketing success, Lauren assisted many businesses in marketing their goods and services before the government. Lauren’s expertise in government procurement was recognized in 2016 when she earned her Certified Procurement Professional Certificate from the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers. In 2020, she was awarded the New York’s SBDC’s Lead by Example award in recognition of her collaboration with New York SBDC’s advisors in helping clients better understand the government procurement space. In 2022, Lauren was awarded America’s SBDC staff from across the national network who demonstrate innovation, leadership, and commitment to the SBDC mission.

At this intensive, you will learn more about how small businesses get certified as an MWBE or disadvantaged business as well as how to apply for governmental contracts. With this state-issued certification, you will have the chance to benefit from the provided opportunities for your business.
