Excerpt from Peter J. Fasulo, President of PSF Training, presentation at June 8th LI Center meeting.

pjf.jpg1. Ask More Open-Ended Questions to Draw Out the Candidate's Personality

2. Act More Casual, in order to give the Candidate a feeling of safety and security with the interviewer

3. Read through the "Scripted" answers

4. Ask for stories from the candidate's past, in order to find out if there may be any issues regarding: Positive Attitude, Work Ethic, Professionalism

5. Do your own Background Check: Look online at websites like MySpace, Facebook and others to see if this candidate is a viable professional that you would want representing your corporation

6. Do Follow-Up Interviews! This will open your eyes to many possible future issues: Lateness, the fact that the candidate has only one suit, etc.

7. Make sure the candidate's past is not filled with job-jumping.

8. Make sure the resume is PERFECT!

9. Have other employees meet the candidate to make sure they are a good "fit" for the organization.
