The Long Island Center is an organization filled with women who help each other. And Betty Wall is one of those members.
Betty, a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) with Margolin Winer and Evens LLP, serves as the treasurer on the Long Island Center's Board of Directors. But more than that Betty is instrumental in running the Center. Member Sandy Hoffer, Betty's friend and neighbor for over 25 years, put it this way:
"Betty is our strategic planner, fund development officer and finance manager
all in one ........ She is the strategic decision-maker that helps the Center move ahead. She [Betty] says, "That sounds like a good idea. How are we going to do? Where are we going to get the money for it?" Betty is the practical person who asks, "How will we get to that place to help the Center to achieve its goals?"
And Betty knows about achieving her own goals. With her husband Jim's help, she went back to school to get an associates degree (A.A.) when her children were young. Afterwards, three women colleagues, Toni Rawlings, former LI Center member Joyce Abrams and current LI Center member Terrie Loheide motivated her to pursue a professional career as a CPA. (Again, she returned to school at night to obtain her four-year degree and her professional accreditation.)
Betty has worked at Margolin Winer & Evens for a total of eleven years. Partner Alan P. Materazo, CPA, stated, "Betty is the kind of professional you wish you had more of.... She cares about the quality of her work ... her clients... her career... and our firm. She works so hard to excel in whatever she does."
That hard work includes her on-going work .at the Center, which includes mentoring other women. If you don't know Betty, come to a Long Island Center gathering and meet her for yourself.
